This feature still exists, and while there are no longer any web designers offering customizations through the add-on manager, the first add-on still exists.

At one point, the add-on manager also offered a way for the user to select which default web page they wanted to be loaded when the browser was started up. For example, if someone wanted to change the theme of Firefox, they would need to go into the add-on manager, select "theme" and then choose the version of Firefox that they wanted to have the theme implemented. Many of the first add-ons that were available only included a few customization features. At one point, there were less than twenty add-ons available for the browser, but today there are literally dozens upon dozens of add-ons available for download. In order to take advantage of all of the great features that Firefox had to offer, many computer users began finding ways to download the various add-ons that they needed to be able to customize Firefox to their individual needs. The design of the browser was different than other browsers, and while not a revolutionary creation, it was a remarkable achievement in the world of web development at the time. While Firefox 1 has been around for several years, it is still one of the most popular browsers on the Internet.
